Always And Forever

Pictures/previews for this page have been removed due to Designers retiring and stores closing

Have you ever noticed how eloquently Rina Kroes names her kits? I always look forward to seeing the new names, and read her store descriptions! or maybe I'm just a little strange that way? LOL

Rina is retiring a BUNCH of products from her Scrapbook-Elements store. these goodies will be available until July 20th and then they wll be gone forever. The close-out prices are perfect too.

Here is Always and Forever and can be yours for only $2.50:

I made this LO with it... still enjoying all the old negatives, and I haven't even scanned them all yet! whoohoo!

I used one of Fafbr's actions to make the lace and ribbon wrap, the Alpha is from Rina's Au Naturelle Collection (also on Close-Out) and the jewel is by Tracey Monette. The frame is also not in the Page Set. I combined a CU frame, Atomic Cupcake Action, some overlays etc to make it up.

Finally : I have a a little freebie for you in the form of a border, corner cluster and journal tag.

You can download it HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Scrapping!!

Just Goofing Around!

It was a warm winter's day, back in 1988, when Mr J was playing outside. I took the camera, hoping to get a few pictures when he suddenly turned all goofy. Naturally I started to giggle and the more I giggled, the goofier he got and the more I giggled...well you know how it goes.

When I saw the new collab, "Way out Wild" by Gypsy Couture and Miss Vivi, it reminded me of these pictures. It is a fun page set full of useful bits and pieces. I'll be making a matching page to this one, with a couple more pictures taken that day.

The Page set is available at The Digichick as well as Scrapbookgraphics and is 20% off today (Thursday) only!
I'm off to scrap the other page...catch you later!

Pearls and Lace

Pictures/previews for this page have been removed due to Designers retiring and stores closing

New in store today : Vickey Morrissey's Pearls and Lace Page Set. it was one of those where I knew exactly which pictures I wanted to scrap with this kit, as soon as I unzipped it!

I tend to make multiple LO's with the same pictures mainly because I make multiple albums, and if I can tailor an album to a specific recipient's taste....well, that is totally my pleasure!

I think these two pages will make a great double spread : Oupa and Ouma before they were married and then years later : a family picture of them and their 4 precious boys.

I think I should like to make a card with this Page Set....hmmmm putting my thinking cap on....
Catch you later!

Sugar & Spice

Pictures/previews for this page have been removed due to Designers retiring and stores closing

...it's a girl thing...I think. And these pictures of my sister always make me think of that phrase.

So when I saw Gypsy Couture's "Sweet Pea" Page Set I knew which pictures would suit it! It is so pretty, sweet and sooooo dainty! I love it!

I also used one of Lisa's Page Genie's #2 templates. The one I used is top left : I rotated it and pulled the curves deeper in over the LO. The curves are wonderful, and I like their understated presence on a page. I also duplicated and off set the curves to get that extra line off colour.

Finally I added the little paper bird from Lisa's Boho Baby Page Set. See Thursday's post HERE.

I have made my page into a Quick Page for you so you can see just how adorable this page set is. As always though it is but a small selection of delicious goodies that make their way onto a LO. The kit is stuffed with digi delectables, trust me!

You can download the freebie HERE. Thank you Lisa for sharing your designs with all the digi scrappers who drop by the blog!

The Fauna and Flora of My World

One of my favourite things to do, is to watch the wild life around the house...nothing huge, impressive or spectacular maybe, but so beautiful and so special.

In 2005 I kept a sketchbook...sadly not yet finalized, of the ever changing scenery outside the door. Scenery that changes close-up, in the little details, not the vast vistas, but the single bloom, the single critter.

This is what the pages look like. Most of the birds are drawn from books or pictures. the plant life was drawn either outside or from samples I brought it. I used an ordinary sketchbook and water colour pencils. The paper objected to my use of straight water colour! Ink pen (micron) was used for details. Any subject was fair game, provided it was actually on the property.

A couple of years ago I decided to start a series of digital LO's, featuring those same plants and animals that are a part of the daily and seasonal fabric of my life, with the long term goal of having them printed up in a Shutterfly book. And here are some examples of what I'm doing. I know this will be be a great project and very much appreciated by the whole family once printed up!

See...Tim found this little fella in the log pile yesterday, and had to come show me first before finding him another safe home...now how could I resist including such a cute little face in our book? That would be unthinkable!

Have you ever thought of capturing your beautiful world on film and in a series of LO's? Go ahead, give it a try...you'll love it. Guaranteed!

Till next time....Happy Scrapping!

Recipe Cards - I like them pretty!

I mean after all : If I'm going to be standing in the kitchen making food...I might as well look at a pretty recipe card at the same time...right?

On a practical note, I've always found it a wee bit tedious to always have to find the recipe in a book on a shelf. I have all these great recipes I'm always using, it would be so handy to have them at my finger tips in seconds. I also have recipe books in languages other than English, which means whenever I share a recipe or the boys (on the very odd occasion!) want to make something, I have to translate it first!
My first step to making my life easier was to start a collection on index cards in my little purple index card holder! Very practical, quick and useful! (and all in English!)
But not really very pretty...

Then digi entered my world....and colour burst into my recipe card collection! Someone asks for a recipe? Easy! ...it is only a couple clicks away! Whether I email it off, or have it printed : sharing has never been so easy!
I have my cards printed at a local store (they are all 4x6) and slip them into a photo album, sorted by categories. The album stands up for easy reading if necessary and the pages wipe clean from occasional spills!

Just a few of my favourites : (you can click on the images to go to the gallery for product links)

I host a Recipe Exchange over at Scrapbook-Elements, with a monthly 'main ingredient' theme. Taking part in this exchange has added some wonderful new recipes to my collection and to the family's "favourites" list!
I'm off to go make a cake...we have a family birthday coming up!
Catch you all later!

Colour Challenge

Pictures/previews for this page have been removed due to Designers retiring and stores closing

A couple of years ago, when Rina Kroes was part of the 'World Scrapping Tour', she hosted a colour challenge for the 'Rainbow Nation' as a South African designer. Every day Rina had a colour grabbag on her blog and we were challenged to make a LO using mostly items from the grabbags.

I totally enjoyed this and here is my selection of LO's. I focused on the colours in 'my world', my immediate surroundings.

No doubt I would do lots of things differently if I were to do this now, but I still like these and intend to include them in a book, to be printed when the rest of the LO's are -one day!- done!

All items are by Rina unless otherwise noted. I kept a few items consistent : multi pictures, the piece of cardboard, the notepaper, an alpha to spell the colour with, the date stamp and the paper clip.

The Ribbon Brush is by Keri Schueller.

Blue Glitter Alpha is by Misty Cato, and the frayed edges brush by Erica Hite.

The Green Stained Wood Alpha by Misty Cato.

Template by Julie Kelley, Autumn Grunge Alpha by Misty Cato.

I feel inspired, all over again, when I look at this....I'm such a 'sucker' for colour....
